The Best Indie Songs of 2014 - Detective

Detective are bloody tight for a band sparkly new on the music scene. 23.42 (Jan'14) distinguishes itself by having a right interesting name and adding some swing to English indie guitar pop.

The wordsmith is proper worthy too, 23:42 is moreish, sweet on the tongue, instantly addictive and yet with a depth of texture and flavours that both demand and reward repeat listening.

The singer reminds me of Morrissey for no good reason. Morrisey was barely this good.

Detective are from the Ditch, just south of Birmingham, England. I'm guessing they might not hate The Kooks, The Arctic Monkeys or The 1975 but that is just conjecture.

Other effervescent Detective tracks are Breaking Even, Skinny Jeans and A Feeling I Couldn’t Feel At The Time, all off their Breaking Even E.P. (2013).

Detective do a cover of The 1975's best tune Chocolate so let's follow with the Manchester funky rock pop band's best, Chocolate (2013).
