DIIV - Under The Sun

 1.    Who are these barber dodgers?

DIIV are a shoe-gaze indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York, making music since 2011 and with two long players on their resume. Under The Sun (Dec’15) is the third single to wind it’s way off the second album Is the Is Are (Feb’16).

2. What flavor of nonsense is Under The Sun?

Under The Sun is a post-punk, mellow, slow burner with echoes of classic English indie rock bands like The Charlatans and Ride.

3. Who do DIIV sound like?

The Cure. Indie Shuffle say Under The Sun sounds like Wild Nothing, Savages and Deerhunter. Knuckle shufflers.

4. What have the press said about Under The Sun?

“Pinpricks of guitar and a sinuous post-punk bassline, gradually adding on layers until the whole thing just about touches the sky” – Stereogum.

“Poppy, positive and pure” – Pitchfork.

“Full speed ahead with reverberated-soaked guitars and echoing vocals” – Indie Shuffle.

5. Which bands have put their boot into DIIV?

The band have mad love for Nirvana. Elliott Smith, The Boo Radleys, Sonic Youth and Sky Ferreira were big influences on the album Is the Is Are.

6. Why should I give Under The Sun my undivided attention?

Under The Sun sounds like a happy hit from The Cure and has a low-key but addictive centre.

7. Do DIIV have any more brilliant tunes?

Massive hit Dopamine is second best but not to be sneezed at.

8. Any more words scribe?

It has been suggested Under The Sun is a love song for Sky Ferreira.

Pitchfork described the new album Is the Is Are as “Requiem For A Dream pop.”

“No, I won’t ask where you run”

The double dip is from Castlecomer an indie rock band from Sydney, Australia. The band have a debut album due out this year and Escapism (Dec'15) is described by Best Before as “a joyous, infectious tune”. Escapism is a bouncy pop rock banger.

“I don’t need no advice”
