Johnny Lloyd - Hello Death

Johnny Lloyd is an indie rocker from South London. He used to front for the successful London indie rock band Tribes (2010-13). Hello Death (Feb’16) charges off his solo E.P. Dreamland (May’16). Mr Lloyd has already contributed a short player Pilgrims (2014) to muscial posterity.

A haunting indie rocker on the acoustic that rocks out at the end. Hello Death rewards a few repeat listens. Not instantly catchy, a slowburner and the sexy part of the song is right at the end. It takes a few listens to fully appreciate the magic, enjoying the verses with the knowledge that even better is to follow. The dividends are there for the patient.

Lime Cordiale have been called a “roots infused electronic pop band” and Not That Easy (Oct’15) described as “a perfect summer jam” and “refined strong and deliberate.” Not That Easy is a stand alone single and great indie rock.

The Best Indie Songs of 2015 - We Are Z

We Are Z Airbrush (Nov’14) starts all throbby bass and drums then builds to all in for the chorus. It’s plenty dance in the bridge with synth doodles and falsetto vocals. But this beauty ain’t short on a bit of punk rock neither with the shout together chorus and guitars joining the fray.

 

A tasty little musical mixture to accompany a track that takes a solid crack at cosmetic surgery and people’s need for visual perfection. Worthy themes good sir. A top class potpourri that makes Airbrush one of the best indie songs of 2015.

We Are Z are indie pop rockers from London and Paris. They have been preaching in the streets since 2013 and Airbrush is their second single.

Shit you need to know:

We Are Z  are influenced by 80’s new wave like XTC and Devo. But Vampire Weekend and Metronomy will also do the trick.

We Are Z have been described as reminiscent of Foster the People, a Foals gone mad and anthemic Arcade Fire.

We Are Z’s dream collaboration would be with The Clash. Mine too gents.

Pull The Trigger (July’14) is a real indie rock stomper. A ‘teeth on the gutter, boot to the back of the head, turn the body around pop out and eye and give it a skull fucking cracking’ track. Pretty good I reckon.

Ball Park Music’s Trippin’ The Light Fantastic (Jun’14) has the dance rock thing going for it. Don’t be fooled by the title Ball Park Music totally rock out as well as inspiring you to get on the good foot.

  Trippin’ The Light Fantastic is off the Brisbane bands second album Puddinghead  (April'14).


Ball Park Music have a chubby for Radiohead and the Beatles amongst many others.
Others songs to put a smile on your dial include She Only Loves Me When I'm There, It's Nice To Be Alive and All I Want Is You.

Ball Park Music have toured in support of rock gods Weezer but this support slot goes to Loon Lake, who have supported Ball Park Music on tour, and Cherry Lips (2012).
