Burly Wood - Side By Side

 




1. Who are Burly Wood? 

Burly Wood are an alternative rock band with elements of punk and grunge from Montreal, Canada. A band made from accomplished musicians from other bands they have been making music since 2016 and Side By Side (August, 2024) is from their second E.P. Horror Vacui (2024). 


2. What kind of song is Side By Side

Side By Side has an earnest pop punk sound like The Ataris or PUP but with all the polish you would expect from well established musicians. 


3. Who do Burly Wood sound like?

PUP, The Ataris, Dinosaur Jr, and Weezer. 


4. Which bands have influenced Burly Wood?

I don't know. One of them is rocking a Rise Against T and I'm thinking they wouldn't hate bands like Weezer, Modern Baseball, and The Wonder Years. You'll have to ask them though.

Béton Armé - L'Union Fait La Force

 



1. Who are Béton Armé? 

Béton Armé are an Oi band from Montreal, Canada. They have been playing together since 2018 and L'Union Fait La Force is from their fourth EP Second Souffle (June, 2023).


2. What kind of tune in L'Union Fait La Force

If you liked old school eighties Oi like Infa Riot, Sham-69 or Cock Sparrer but you thought they it could be done better if the band just stuck to the Oi's and the sticky choruses then L'Union Fait La Force is the song for you. All the good part of classic Oi concentrated into one sweet concoction. 


3. Which bands do Béton Armé sound similar to? 

The Chisel, Violent Way, MESS, Syndrome 81, Claimed Choice, and RIXE. 


4. Which bands influenced Béton Armé?  

Some of the bands they enjoy are Camera Silens, RIXE, Trotkids, and Collabos.

Lost Love - Clay Turris





1. Who are Lost Love?

Lost Love are a catchy punk rock band from Montreal, Canada. Clay Turris (May'18) is the lead single from their third album Good Luck Rassco (May'18). 


2. What kind of song is Clay Turris? 

Clay Turris is a mid-tempo indie rock song that chugs along on a lazy rakish riff, like early Weezer, and has an uplifting chorus. A rocker that steps lightly. 


3. Who do Lost Love sound like? 

Weezer, PUP, Jeff Rosenstock.

Skating Polly are an alternative rock band from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They are all family members and started making music in 2009. Skating Polly have been compared to Babes In Toyland and Bikini Kill. Their influences are Veruca Salt, The Breeders and L7. Hollywood Factory (April'18) is the third single from their fifth album The Make It All Show (May'18) and marries sweet indie pop vocals with a louche grunge riff.
