Kissing Is A Crime are a post-punk band from Brooklyn, New York. Started in 2012, Crown Royal is the lead single from their debut E.P. Your Secrets Are Safe With Me (Sept'16 Re-issue). 

2. Is the tune up to snuff?

    

           Yeah it is. A low-fi song that twinkles along charmingly, telling a story of young lust, and letting the melodies do the heavy lifting.

Crown Royal is fine songwriting writ large. It perfectly evokes the moment of all enveloping desire.

The La’s were an indie rock band from Liverpool, England, that seemed destined for greatness. They played from 1987 to 1992 releasing only one studio album which garnered widespread critical acclaim. They reformed and re-released music a few times thereafter. There She Goes (1990) was the bands moment in the sun; charting in the English top 20 and included by NME as one of the top 50 indie anthems of all time. There She Goes is about love unattained and is a cherished song by many.

Blossoms - Getaway

1.    Who are the lads?

Blossoms are a psych-rock/pop band from Manchester, England.  They started in 2013 and have four short players and a screed of singles to their credit. Getaway (April’16) is a stand alone single.


2. What have they got to say for themselves?

Not a lot. Getaway is low-key, mid-tempo indie pop. A conflicted, love tune.


3. Who do Blossoms sound similar to?

Depeche Mode reckon E Buzz. Throw in a little of The Courteeners or The Smiths if you like.


4. What have the press said about Getaway?

“Soothing and uplifting” – NME.

Getaway has lyrics about a relationship that are universal. Otherwise it's sweet playlist filler that carries on a tradition of not-too-bad tunes from the up-and-coming band.


7. Do Blossom’s have any more good un’s?

At Most A Kiss is their best and brightest, a number one vinyl tune, and Cut Me And I'll Bleed has an infectious pop feel reminiscent of The Cure.

Getaway was recorded with James Skelly from The Coral and Rich Turvey who has clocked in for Darlia, The Mispers and Clean Cut Kid.

Blossoms have played support for bands like The Courteeners and The Libertines.

Blossom’s manager did same for The Stone Roses and The Courteeners.

Darlia are an alternative rock band from Blackpool, England. They cranked up in 2013 and have four short players in the bank. I've Never Been To Ohio (2015) is the last thing they did and the band has been compared to Nirvana crossed with Oasis. New Chunk said I've Never Been To Ohio is “hope for the return of guitar music.”
