The Ritzy Kids are a pop punk band from Sydney, Australia. They started making music in 2021 and Reverie (May, 2024) is a stand alone single at the moment but I wouldn't die of shock if it graced their debut album. 

2. What kind of song is Reverie? 

Reverie is more immediate, vital and arresting than their genre description of pop punk would lead you to suppose. The vocals soar through the stratosphere and everything else is just generating the urgency to keep this supersonic song aloft. Reverie is a commercially viable fucking banger that I'd expect to hear on any modern rock radio station.

Band Of Horses are an indie rock band from Seattle, Washington. They started playing together in 2004 and Casual Party (April’16) is the lead song from Band Of Horses’ fifth album Why Are You Ok? (June’16). Casual Party is the band’s most successful single in the charts.

Casual Party is a mellow rocker with a hint of southern rock and something to say about the mundane and trivial moments in life and inane conversation. It grooves.

HLAH (Head Like A Hole) are one of New Zealand's most popular and successful rock bands. Formed in 1992 they are still going strong and have recorded ten albums. HLAH are influenced by bands like Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More, Fugazi and Nirvana. In 1997 they released a video of their Bruce Springsteen cover I'm On Fire and the cunts fucking smashed it. No other version compares to their earnest delivery with the oh-my-fucking-god-I'm-gonna-lose-it rock out at the end. HLAH are heroes to a grateful nation for delivering this manna from heaven.

Palace - Break The Silence

     1.    Who are the boys?

Palace are an alternative blues/rock band from London, England. Palace started kicking it in 2012 and Break The Silence (May'16) is the lead single from their debut album So Long Forever (Nov'16).

2. What kind of tune is this Break The Silence? 

One that takes it's bloody time to get cracking. All dark atmospheric whinge and build up. But the singer's phrasing and a bustling rhythm add the magic to a brooding tune. 

3. Who do Palace sound like? 

Kings of Leon. Euphoriazine were feeling Foals. Palace have often been compared to The Maccabees.

So Long Forever is produced by Adam Jaffrey who has worked for Spector, Best Friends and Trailer Trash Tracys.

The Maccabees were an indie pop rock band from London, England. Started in 2004 they recorded four albums before calling it quits in 2016. The Maccabees were both a critical and commercial success. Their third album Given Wild (2013) went to number 4 on the UK album charts and went gold. Something Like Happiness (2015) was the second single from the fourth album Marks To Prove It (2015) an album that went to number 1 in the UK albums charts and Clash Music called "sonically gorgeous."

The Best Indie Songs of 2015 - Rain Over St. Ambrose

Rain Over St. Ambrose are an indie folk influenced, alternative rock band from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. Broken Love bounces off their second long-player Waking Up (Jun’15). The song is a “...gruff, atmospheric rock tune” and their album “...reverberates with anthemic sing-alongs, swampy fuzzed-out riff rock, and swirling synths.” Their influences are The Constantines, Kings of Leon and Winter Sleep.

Rain Over St Ambrose Broken Love (May’15) comes on like a happyier Kings of Leon hit and that’s all you need to know. Earnest, gravelly vocals are propelled by a finger-snappy beat, backed up with a contrasting of angelic female vocals, and punctuated by a rock guitar led all in. The gist of the tune is hope amongst hardship and it comes on like melodic heroin. Take an orgasm and mutiple it one thousand times and you're still not close, Broken Love is one of the best indie songs of 2015.

The band have been compared to The Hold Steady, Gaslight Anthem and British Sea Power.

The new album has been big-upped as “...enormous in tone and uninhibited in its approach. Raw, contemplative, and feverish...”

The album was mixed byTony Doogan (Mogwai, Belle and Sebastien) and mastered by Greg Calbi (War on Drugs, St. Vincent, Paul Simon).

The band are named after the weather on the day of the singer’s father’s funeral.
