RIXE - Tir Groupé

1. Who are RIXE?

RIXE are a street punk band that combine the sound of Oi with post-punk. They come from Paris, France, and have been making music together since 2014. Tir Groupé (Aug, 2024) is the lead single from their E.P of the same name Tir Groupé (Aug, 2024).

2. What kind of song is Tir Groupé?

Tir Groupé is the sound of an old car full of young men being driven as fast as it will go down an empty highway. There aren't any highs or lows. It kicks off to a gunshot and goes flat out to the end. It grows on you with time and the drum machine adds an odd endearing quality.

3. Which bands do RIXE sound like?

Blitz, Syndrome 81, Camera Silens, and Béton Armé.

4. Which bands have influenced RIXE?

They say French Oi from the 80's and others hear a lot of the Italian band Nabat.

5. What have the cut and paste bandits said about Tir Groupé?

"A stark, icy street-punk singalong with a drum-machine beat and a warlike sense of melody" - Stereogum.

"Fuckwave, OI! and pop music as infectious as their previous four Eps" - Bandcamp.

"A clash between the band’s aggressive street-punk edge and their knack for melody" - Add To Want List.

CUIR - Un air de Mexico

1. Who are CUIR?

CUIR are a one man synth-punk band by Doug Zilla. Fighting out of Lorient, France, he has been making music since 2019. Un air de Mexico (August, 2024) is the third single from his second album Album Album (April, 2024).

2. What kind of tune is Un air de Mexico?

It's a street punk song that charges out of the gates and hits the finish line without an anthemic chorus or any flourishes. This is a lean mean punk machine.

3. Who does CUIR sound like?

The Ramones if they forgot the chorus, Béton Armé, and Syndrome 81.

4. Which bands have inspired CUIR?

I don't know. But I bet he likes The Ramones, Syndrome 81, and RIXE.

5. What have people said about CUIR's music?

"Meaty and efficient, ripping it up in record time with no fat whatsoever" - Maximum Rock'n'Roll.

"As catchy as ever and the music just as danceable" - Sorry State Records.

"Combining hard hitting punk rock with super catchy synth-pop" - Genius.

"I dream of warm sand,

To the tune of Mexico City"

HOME FRONT - Nation

1. Who are HOME FRONT?

HOME FRONT are a punk/new wave (they call themselves bootwave) band from Edmonton, Canada. Formed in 2021 with members from other bands Nation (March, 2023) is a single, and most popular song, from their debut alnum Games of Power (March, 2023).

2. What kind of song is Nation?

Nation contains enough hints of HOME FRONT's new wave foundations to make it fresh exciting and interesting, combined with lashings of boot-boy-running-down-the-streets-shouting-Oi-Oi-Oi rebellious energy. Nation gives an intriguing and alluring boot in the balls to two old genres and of course it features vocals from Cal Graham of The Chisel. It's pure fucking genius and like a breath of air to a drowning man.

3. Which bands do HOME FRONT sound like?

Comparisons have been made to High Vis, Suicide  and Syndrome 81. Hell throw in that TURNSTILE song while we are at it. They have also kept company with Béton Armé, The Chisel and Conservative Military Image.

4. Which bands have influenced HOME FRONT?

Information is thin on the ground so let's rolls with Joy Division, Devo, and Blitz.

5. What have people said about Nation?

"Stuffed to the brim with icy synths and righteous indignation" - Maximum Rock'n'Roll.

"A shouty Oi anthem" - Just Some Punk Songs.

"Nation lets a massive gang-chant hook guide it's chorus with fist-pumping vigor" - Exclaim!

"We're poor as fuck,
So they lock us up,
Throw away the key"
