TOUTS - Can't Blame Me




TOUTS are a punk/indie rock band from Derry, Ireland. Can't Blame Me (Oct'18) is the lead single from their third E.P. Analysis Paralysis (Nov'18). TOUTS sound like Stiff Little Fingers and The Clash. TOUTS influences are The Clash and Stiff Little Fingers! Can't Blame Me has more of a sixties sound like The Who though while despairing against the cynical tactics of modern politicians. The best TOUTS song is Political People.

     1.    Who are these whipper snappers?

TOUTS are a punk band from Derry, Ireland. Political People (May'17) is the lead single from their debut E.P. Sickening and Deplorable (May'17).


2.  What kind of tune is Political People?

Classic edgy punk, balls deep in crunching guitar and with caustic vocals. Tight as a nuns cunt.


3. Who do TOUTS sound like?

The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, and Green Day.


4. What have the press said? 

"A two minute sub-culture anthem" - Indie Is Not A Genre. 

"Switched on and seriously fucking angry" - NME. 

"Raw, sweaty punk at its finest" - King Mob.






5. Which bands have inspired the TOUTS?

Some of their influences are The Clash, The Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones, and The Dubliners. 


6. Why should I give Political People a listen? 

Because you love popular punk with a word to say.


7. What are the TOUTS best tunes? 

Political People is top of the pile but Sold Out is a banger too. 


8. Any more words? 

These lads aren't out of school yet and they are scoring support slots for bands like Kasabian and Paul Weller.

Benjamin Booker is a blues/boogie/garage/punk rock musician from Virginia Beach, Virginia. His main influences are Gun Club, T.Rex and Blind Willie Johnson. Benjamin Booker's music has been compared to White Stripes, Kings Of Leon, and The Strokes. Right On You (April'17) is the second single from his second album Witness (June'17).  Right On You is an urgent, bluesy, garage rock song that Stereogram praised for its, “swaggering, bluesy strut.”

Otherkin - Bad Advice




1. Who are Otherkin? 

Otherkin are a punk band from Dublin, Ireland. They have been the life and soul of the party since 2013 and have two E.P's to their name. Bad Advice (March'17) is a standalone single. 


2. What kind of noise are they touting? 

Bad Advice channel old school punk influences like The Clash, marry it with new century indie like The Strokes, to create a sprightly little foot-tapper. 


3. Who do Otherkin sound like? 

The Strokes, The Vaccines,  and Jamie T.  


4. What have the sycophantic press said about Bad Advice?

“Ferociously energetic” – With Guitars.

“Furious, old-fashioned, punk rock” – Old Mackerel.  

“A ferocious two minute twenty second assault” – Even The Stars.




5. Which bands have inspired Otherkin?

Some of their main influences are The Clash, The Ramones, The Strokes, Weezer and Thee Oh Sees.


6. Why should Iisten to Bad Advice? 

Because it mangles punk, garage and new century indie rock rather well.

Ay Ay is anthemic; and I Was Born and I Feel It aren't too shabby.

Jamie T is a popular English indie rock/alternative hip hop musician from London, England. He has been hammering out tunes since 2005 and has three albums in the vaults. Jamie T sounds similar to The Clash, RAT BOY and The Kooks. He is influenced by Oasis, Wu-Tang Clan and The Clash. Robin Hood is an album track from Jamie T's third album Trick (2016).  NME called Robin Hood “insanely fun” and said it is “essentially a full-on tribute to his idols Mick Jones and Joe Strummer c. 1980.”J

Two Door Cinema Club - Bad Decisions




1.    Who are they? 

Two Door Cinema Club are an indie pop/funk band from Bangor, Northern Ireland. Bad Decisions (July’16) is the second single from their third album Gameshow (Oct’16). 


2. What have they served up? 

Bad Decisions is fat, funky, indie-pop dancefloor filler. Very 80's pop.


3. Who do Two Door Cinema sound like?

Prince, Scissor Sisters and The 1975. 


4. What have the muppets in the press said about Bad Decisions?

“80’s nostalgia fueled sound” – Your EDM. 

“Feel-good disco-tipped dancefloor peak” – Mix Mag.

“A groovy, disco track with a pulsating bass line” – Babble Music. 



 


5. Which bands have influenced Two Door Cinema Club? 

Some of the band's main influences are Prince, David Bowie, Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder and Death Cab For Cutie. 


6. Why should I give Bad Decisions a spin? 

It'll get you shaking your ass. 


7. What are the best Two Door Cinema songs? 

Beacon is the best. Something Good Can Work is chippy indie pop and nice. Sun has a killer chorus and a little assist from the horns and I Can Talk isn't too shabby. 

8. Any more words pal? 

The album Gameshow was produced by Jacknife Lee who has worked with Twin Atlantic, U2, Silversun Pickups, Bloc Party and Weezer.

Walking On Cars are an alternative rock band from Dingle, Ireland. Walking On Cars are similar to The Script, Kodaline, The Coronas and Bastille. They are influenced by The Lumineers, Ben Howard and Coldplay. Walking On Cars debut album Everything This Way (Jan'16) went to number one in Ireland and Speeding Cars (Oct'15) was an international hit single.  Fortitude Magazine described Speeding Cars as “a gorgeous track with stunningly deep lyrics backed by haunting piano work and perfected with a ridiculously catchy chorus.”

Otherkin - I Was Born






1.    Who are these soldiers of rock?

Otherkin are a grunge pop band from Dublin, Ireland. They kicked off in 2013 and have two short players to their roll of honor. I Was Born (Feb’16) is the lead single from Otherkin’s second short player The New Vice (April’16).


2. What kind of essential brilliance are Otherkin touting?

I Was Born is a cracking charge up the guts that is more punk than pop and more rock than roll. Hold onto your knickers because I Was Born will blow your pants off without so much as a chat up line.



3. Who do these rock gods sould like?

FIDLAR. I Was Born was compared to The Strokes and The Vaccines by It's All Indie. While Lost In The Manor were feeling The Foo Fighters.


4. What have the cut and paste bandits said about I Was Born?


“Whip-cracking epic” – It’s All Indie.


“Dynamic riffs and a big anthem sound” – Ceol Caint.


“Heavyweight thumper” – Headphone Jacks.


 




5. Who put the bang into Otherkin’s blast?

Otherkin are influenced by old school English punk like The Clash and The Sex Pistols and have said that The Stroke's Is This It? is their benchmark.


6. Why should I give I Was Born a poke with a stick?

I Was Born melds new century American garage rock with old school English punk to create a noisy hybrid with more bang than a space shuttle malfunction.


 7. Do Otherkin have any more crackers?
Don't fuck about, listen to Ay Ay now. Ay Ay is like The Vines with a sense of purpose. Feel It  has lashings of American garage rock and is sound as a pound too.

 8. Any more words?
Otherkin have fluffed at shows for Parquet Courts and Palma Violets.

“It’s alright, it’s OK”

Reinforcements are from the big guns of Broadway Calls. The punk band from Ranier, Oregon, fired up in 2005 and have three long players to pin to their pole. Fuck me dead but it’s hard to pick just one standout track from these punk gods. Wake Up Call blasts off Broadway Calls' second big player, Good View, Bad News (2009), that was produced by Descendents drummer Bill Stevenson and Absolute Punk called it “the best pop-punk record of the year,” and on the topic of Wake Up Call reviewers All Music were succinct, “anthemic.”
