Bishop Allen are an indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York. They started playing in 2003 and have recorded four albums. Bishop Allen are influenced by Tom Waits and The Kinks. Start Again was the lead single from their fourth album Lights Out (2014). Start Again is a bubbling, sunshine with wind blowing through your hair as you run down the sand dunes toward the inviting sky-blue sea, song that encapsulates optimism and a longing for adventure.

Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam are an indie rock band of convenience from NewYork. Leithauser is the singer from The Walkmen and Rostam Batmanglij is  the multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter/producer from Vampire Weekend. They have both quit their bands and struck out on their own. 1000 Times (Aug'16) is the first single from their album I Had A Dream That You Were Mine (Sept'16).

2. What's the fuss? 

1000 Times has a catchy chorus that get's milked until they've sucked that tit dry. The vocals move from whimsical to crazed, desperate, and impassioned. It's a classic.

Biffy Clyro are a very successful indie rock band from Kilmarnock, Scotland. Started in 1995 they have recorded seven albums. Biffy Clyro are similar to Twin Atlantic, Feeder and Foo Fighters. They are influenced by Metallica, Nirvana and Rush. Re-Arrange (Nov'16) is the fourth single from their album Ellipsis (July'16) that entered the U.K.charts at number one. Re-Arrange is a quirky rock pop ballad.

Bear Hands are a post-punk band from Brooklyn, New York. They started playing in 2006. Boss (Oct'16) is the third single from their third album You'll Pay For This (April'16).

Boss is a quirky indie rock song that works it's soft/loud dynamic to the maximum. Soft cooing vocals and acoustic contrast with some stout riffs that build to to an all in. It's an innocuous song that grows on you.

Augustines were an indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York. They played from 2010 - 2016. The Augustines have been compared to Frightened Rabbit, U2, Kings Of Leon and The National. Public Access TV bring the urgency of punk to more complex post-punk melodies. Beverly are an indie pop rock duo from Brooklyn, New York. They have been making sweet music together since 2013 and have one long player to brag about Careers (2014). Victoria (Jan’16) is the second single from Beverly’s second album Blue Swell (May’16).
 

2. What kind of track is Victoria?

Victoria is a standard issue alternative rock hit, late eighties early nineties vintage. Frankie Rose's vocals serenely guide the tune while Drew Citron's guitar heroics trace wicked melodic lines and provide the background muscle.

Slippery seconds is from The Automatic, a Welsh alternative rock band that started in 1998. The Automatic are influenced by Jarcrew, Muse and Blur and recorded three albums before calling it quits in 2010. Monster (2006) was The Automatic’s one huge hit and came off their debut album, becoming a bit of an albatross around their neck. NME said Monster is a song that “boasts a hook that could disembowel a whale” and was “the catchiest indie hit of the summer.” A song about the monster coming out of people who drink and drug too much Monster is a classic.
