Start Again was the lead single from their fourth album Lights Out (2014). Start Again is a bubbling, sunshine with wind blowing through your hair as you run down the sand dunes toward the inviting sky-blue sea, song that encapsulates optimism and a longing for adventure.

If you wanna turn around, then go ahead”

Whilk & Misky- All By Myself

     1.    Who are these bohemians?

Whilk & Misky are an indie electronic duo from London. The chaps have been releasing music since 2014 and have a short player and a handful of singles on their resume. All By Myself (July'16) is a standalone single.

     2. What is All By Myself about?

All By Myself is an acoustic, foot tapping, clap-along tune with a brass assist that is all about getting your groove on with no fucks given. Just get your snout in the trough; this tune is more contagious than a cheap Thai hookers sausage smuggler at sun up.

     3. Who do Whilk & Misky sound like?

Milky Chance and Vance Joy say the folk at Indie Shuffle.

      4. What have the muppets in the press said about All By Myself?

“Anthem of the summer” – NME.

     “Infectious groove” – Abduction Radiation.

“Uplifting and catchy” – Chrome Music.

  5. Which bands have put the dance in Whilk & Misky's step?

Some of the Whilk & Misky influences are Bob Dylan, Grizzly Bear, Jon Hopkins and Shiba San.

  6. Why should I give All By Myself a lash?

All By Myself brings catchy indie pop to a dance beat. Impossible to dislike.

  7. Do Whilk & Misky have any more of these treasures?

Babe I'm Yours is the one you want.

  8. Any more words Chief?

   Nah. Jog on.

“All by myself I came to party”

Krrum is a music producer from Leeds, England, and an electronic pop musician. Evil Twin is from the man's debut E.P. Evil Twin (Jan'16). Krrum has smooth soulful vocals and with a sticky loop courtesy of the lady, and some slamming brass, Evil Twin is a knockout tune. Clash Music called Krrum “an avant pop prodigy” and Stereogum praised Evil Twin's  “absurdly catchy beat.” Get in to it.

“Looking like a Hitchcock scene,

I’ve been sleeping under trampolines”

Great Caesar - Hey Mama

1.    Who are these lovelies?

Great Caesar are a socially conscious indie rock band with a brass section that sashay out of Brooklyn, New York.  Hey Mama (March’16) flows off the Great Caesar E.P. Jackson’s Big Sky (March’16).

2. What’s the tune like?

Hey Mama starts out a soulful acoustic song, vocal led and dripping in emotional resonance. The brass lightly brings up the rear and the instruments blend slowly in. No fear. The vocal only breakdown sends a frisson down your spine and then the band and brass dime out and Hey Mama becomes transcendental. Ticks all the boxes.

3. Who do Great Caesar sound similar to?

Operation Every Band have their finger on the pulse with The Decemberists, Bronze Radio Return and Hey Marsailles. Throw in The Lumineers if you must.

4. What is the good word from the press?

“An uplifiting ode” – Nerdist.

“A compelling emotional performance” – My Space.

“Simple and stark” – Ear Milk.

5. Who put the lolly in Great Caesar’s music?

Great Caesar are influenced by The Beatles, Paul Simon, Elton John, Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons and The Dave Matthews Band and have sent some love to Sufjan Stevens. The band also have a background in ska.

6. Why should I give Hey Mama a crack?
Great Caesar have played prisons and talked to the folk in there and Hey Mama is the good oil from those visits. Compelling musically, spiritually and emotionally. Frontman John Parker has said the EP is “our first real statement.” Real is exactly what Hey Mama is.

7. Do Great Caesar have any more of these treasures?
Hey Mama stands head and shouilders above the rest. Don't Ask Me Why is popular.

8. More words fool?
John Michael Parker, band frontman, said the coolest thing about the difference between being a musician and a doctor in this interview.

“I wanna be where a boy can be free,
But I’ve got time that I owe the state”

It would be rude to go past The Lumineers for the second innings. The Lumineers are an indie folk rock band from Denver, Colorado by way of Ramsey, New Jeresy. They are crazy popular and their debut album The Lumineers (2012) went to number two in the Billboard Charts, sold a million half and the single Ho Hey (2012) topped the charts and sold two million plus. Cleopatra (March'16) is the second single from The Lumineers second album Cleopatra (April'16) and is a cracking tune about a woman The Lumineers came to know through “...a friend. “She drives taxis and is this badass lady – she’ll pick you up at the airport with a cigarette hanging out her mouth and a beer can between your legs.”

“Damn your wife, I’d be your mistress just to have you around”

The Best Indie Songs of 2015 - Satellite Stories

Satellite Stories The Trap (Dec’14) comes bursting out of the traps with brass, a military drum beat and the chorus upfront. There’s a ska feel to the verses and a few changes of pace in the third minute but on the whole song is like an Eskimo having sex outside. Hard pumping to the finish line.

The Trap is a song about staying true to your heart in a relationship against the pressure to conform to societal norms, the horns are what make this song stand out from the others. And it does stand out from the others. The Trap is the best Satellite Stories song and one of the best indie songs of 2015.

“See the only road I know and off I go"

Satellite Stories are from Oulu, a progressive university city in Northern Norway. They have been on the job since 2008. The Trap is the first single off Satellite Stories third album Vagabonds (March’15).

Shit you need to know:

Indie Shuffle said The Trap sounds like Two Door Cinema Club and Walla. These characters called it , “...a blaring call to arms.”  I was thinking of Of Monsters And Men but I’m simple so of course I am.

The new album was produced by Simon ‘Barny’ Barnicott who has previously worked with the Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Preatures.

Satellite Stories have mentioned a fondness for The Wombats, Vampire Weekend and Two Door Cinema Club. One of the bands favourite bands is The Royal Concept.

The band describe their music as, “always danceable indie rock” while others have said it is “upbeat, enthusiastic in nature”.

In 2012 Satellite Stories were the second most blogged about band in the world.

The special Satellite Stories songs are Heartbeat,  Lights Go Low and Vagabonds.

The dodgy double dip comes courtesy of Swedish indie rock band The Royal Concept as Satellite Stories mentioned they have a hard on for them and their anthemic singalong track On Our Way (2013).
