Dead Natives - Keep This In Mind

1. Who are the Dead Natives?

Dead Natives are an indie rock band from London. They formed in 2015 and so far they  only have singles and E.P's to show for themselves. Keep This In Mind (Feb'18) is a stand alone single.

2. What kind of song is Keep This In Mind?

Keep This In Mind bursts out of the traps with layered guitars reminiscent of Oasis when they were vital. The tune has some strut, laying down snarling lyrics about living large as a free spirit,“Yeah, I’ll burn the candle at both ends baby, but I don’t live in hypocrisy, ” before the chorus rises on a Nirvana-lite explosion before swirling into psych-rock eddies. An assured outing from these ne'er-do-wells.

3. Who do Dead Natives sound like?

Darlia, Oasis, and Kasabian.

4. What have the rags said about Keep This In Mind?

“Tighter than previous music” – Emerging Indie Bands.
“90’s grunge sounds with indie riffs” – Halfway2Nowhere.
“Bold and swaggering” – Gigslutz.

5. Which bands have influenced Dead Natives?
Oasis, Catfish and The Bottlemen, and Blossoms.

6. Why should I give the tune a spin?

Quite the mélange of influences.

7. Do they have any other bangers?
No. But I Got Menace isn't too shabby.

8. Any extras?
Nah.

“You tell me I’m a fool for the things I say”

Dead! are an indie rock band from London. Golden Age Of Not Even Trying (Oct'17) is the title song from their debut album Golden Age Of Not Even Trying (Jan'18). Their style veers wildly from hardcore punk to emo and rock. They have been compared to Palaye Royale, My Chemical Romance, and Creeper. Clash said the album, “nailed the knack of constructing brash, ballsy, and boisterous sonic burning effigies.” The album is choc full of fucking bangers. The song Golden Age Of Not Trying sounds like peak The Killers but it's just an entry level taster from a vital new band.

“It’s rare to stand by anything we say,
These days we are all whores”

“Pick up the phone I know it’s right next to you,
Are you with some other dude? You know I always stay true

”

The Crispies are a garage rock band from Vienna, Austria. They sound like The Orwells or PARTYBABY. Easy (Oct'17) is the first single from their second album Fake Leather (March'18). Fake Leather sees the band melding their hip hop influences and original garage rock into a more mainstream sound. Easy hews closer too the old rock sound and while it hasn't taken the world by storm but it's not too shit though.

“Why are my friends always high?”

Best Coast, La Sera and Tacocat.

4. What have the press said about Flipside?

“A 90’s alt-rock throwback with power-pop bona fides” – Stereogram.

SuperGlu are an indie rock band with punk/pop/grunge influences. Hailing from Manningtree, England, they have been playing together since 2014. SuperGlu have one E.P. in the vault and Dreams (Nov'16) is a standalone single.

2. Do they have the goods?

And then some. This is the Real McCoy. Dreams is classic pop punk musically but it's a song with integrity at it's heart. Monster riffs, joyous vocals, and more bounce than a kangaroo on meth. Dreams is so instantly infectious it needs to come with a WHO warning.

3. Who do SuperGlu sound like?

Weezer meets Blink-182, and PARTYBABY.

4. What have the press said about Dreams?

“A vivacious, joy-filled creation” – Gig Slutz.

“Annoyingly catchy indie-pop by an irritatingly cheerful bunch” – Louder Than War.

“Raw punk energy streams through straightaway” – Music Of The Future.

5. Which bands influenced SuperGlu?

They aren't saying.

6. Why should I give Dreams a whirl?

Because you like the sound of 90's pop punk. Because SuperGlu do it better.

7. What are SuperGlu's best songs?

Dreams is a bulls-eye, no doubt, but it's also a gateway to Simmer Down. That song is some next level shit. Simmer Down is all about a slow, orgiastic build; luxuriating in the lyrics and entrancing rhythms before it goes balls to the wall in the blowout. Championship-winning indie rock. Rounder is a more garage-pop tune and it's fucking outstanding too.

8. Any more words?

Dreams has had over 100,000 Spotify plays which is worth about $500. The record company would rather sell a C.D.

“If wake up screaming in the morning,
Baby hold me close”

Friska Viljor are generally similar to Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes, and Of Monsters and Men. They are influenced by beer. My Boys is a poppy piece of malarky but the chorus with violin is a lovely little charger.  The song has been described as, “like a hurricane whipping a legion of musical elements and nostalgic moments up into the eye of its melodic storm.”

“No weight upon my chest”
