4   The Goo Goo Dolls started out as a punk band in 1986 before moving into the pop rock territory they came to cover. The band have eleven albums under them and are still going strong. Only One (1995) was the lead single from The Goo Goo Dolls fifth album A Boy Named Goo and saw the band at the height of their powers. Only One is a hard rocking roller-coaster ride that walked the line between radio-friendly and sharp, modern, punk rock perfectly.

The Frights are a garage surf punk band from San Diego, California. The Frights are two long players and two short players to the good. Kids (Jan’16) is a re-hash from the E.P. DeathFrights (2014) and rockets of the second album You Are Going To Hate This (Feb’16).

Kids is a sweet little garage surf rocker that sounds like it was recorded at a warehouse gig. But The Frights fucking flail the beast at the end for a rousing finale.

Jeff Lynne also formed The Travellin’ Wilburys (1988-90) with a few friends. The well of Jeff Lynne's musical goodness has influenced indie pop and rock to no less extent than The Beatles and must be dipped into from time to time for a healthy mind and body. Livin’ Thing (1976) was the lead single from ELO’s sixth album A New World (1976), the album was a world wide top ten hit that spawned three more massive singles. Livin' Thing topped a 2006 Q Magazine poll of guilty pleasures, beating out Boston's More Than A Feeling.
