The Best Indie Songs of 2015 - The Mowgli's

The Mowgli’s I’m Good (Jan’15) starts off with a ska rag, big drum and some laid back lead straight out of the bag and heads are nodding and arses wobbling. Then it’s 'how’s your father' and into a big as Melissa McCarthy’s ass singalong chorus with everyone in and color by number lyrics. But that’s a good thing. This song will have you smiling like a retard masturbating.

A song about being comfortable living in your own skin regardless of societal expectations and the power of solidarity, it’s a take home message in an indie pop tune so sweet pharmaceutical companies are laughing evilly in their sleep. But if you don’t like this song, call the doctor, you really are broken inside. This tune is indie with a capital “I”, a hurricane of happy that would make a death row inmate on his last meal hopeful. I’m not fucking with you when I goddamn testify it's one of the best indie songs of 2015.

“It’s been a long time living this way”

The Mowgli’s are an indie rock band from Los Angeles of the great US of A. They started in 2010 and I’m Good is the second single off their second album Kids In Love (April’15).

Shit you need to know:

Their new album was produced by a handy crew. Tony Hoffer who did graft with The Kooks, Captain Cuts a group of producers who've gone to the coalface with Smallpools and Matt Radosevich who jobbed for Walk the Moon.

Peas of a pod with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Fun. and Grouplove.

Got there groove from Neil Young, The Beach Boys and Fleetwood Mac.

Have a mission statement to spread love and kindness and support good causes like protesting the Religious Freedom Restoration Act being used in Indiana to discriminate against gay folk.

Participated in the Occupy Movement.

Have more heart filling masterpieces like San Francisco, Say It, Just Say It and The Great Divide.

Don’t leave a bro hanging is as a random as a five in the morning hook up in Bangkok. This is the English indie rock left field geniuses Public Service Broadcasting and their never fuckin surrender epic Spitfire (2012).

Oh what a treat.

“Someday I’m going to build a plane just like a bird,

It isn’t exactly a bird I’m creating is it?

At least a curious sort of bird

A bird that breaths fire and spits out destruction"
