1. Who is this chipper looking band?
Holy Fever are a punk band from Los Angeles. Find Your Fame (Feb'16) is from their debut long player Find Your Wreckage (April'16). The band members all played in other bands but came together in 2011 and have two short players behind them.
2. What kind of tune have Holy Fever got on their hands?
Full of angry ass vocals and lyrics and the slow threatening rumble of guitars. Sweet harmonies and vocals passed between Samantha Barbera and Dave Weinberg keep Find Your Fame light, accessible and the lyrics are amusing. Holy Fever is a prince of modern American punk.
3. Who do Holy Fever sound like?
Like Rancid got sweaty with The Breeders. SWNK think Embrace. Bikini Kills and The Hives say Rock N Reel.
4. What have the cut and paste brigade got to say about Find Your Fame?
“Old fashioned, filthy rock’n’roll. – Noisey Vice.
“All the vitality you love about punk with an unapologetic pop sensibility” – Dying Scene.
“A sound that is pissed and unmistakably punk, with an unexpected spin” – Songs Pub.
5. Who are Holy Fever’s influences?
The band have said the group have so many different influences that nothing is worthy of mention.
6. Why should I give Find Your Fame a lash?
The sweet juxtaposition of gritty punk with sweet harmonies does the job and the lyrics pop. Find Your Fame was on a computer game so mainstream accessibility is working in it's favor too.
7. Do Holy Fever have any more swinging tunes?
Yep. All That's Best Of Dark And Bright rocks out. Rats Feet Over Broken Glass rolls the same way Find Your Fame does. Sound as a pound.
8. Did you glean any more good gossip about the glistening greatness that is Holy Fever?
The inspiration for the song is interesting. “ ‘Find Your Fame’ is about a woman in Mexico named ‘Diana the Hunter’ who was killing bus drivers as retaliation for sexual attacks against women in her town. Even though it can be a dangerous path, there’s something so empowering and invigorating about vigilante justice.”
“We’re gonna reap what you sow!”
The double dip is something mellow and cracker funky. Absofacto is the solo project of Jonathan Visger from Ann Arbor, Michigan. He has one album in the bottle. Dissolve is from 2015 and is indie elctronica and funky.
“I just
wanted you to watch me dissolve,
slowly ,
in a pool full of your love”
slowly ,
in a pool full of your love”
